In case anyone ever wonders...

Well, just in case anyone ever looks here again, I have moved to:

I figured out why they call the last tests of the semester "finals." Students are so happy when they're finally over!

So, I finished up on Thursday, I've been catching up on sleep this weekend and Paul is coming back for Christmas break in just a few days. Yay!

I've lately been convicted for being such a selfish person. You all can pray for me about that if you want to. I've just been so caught up in the end of the semester stuff that I've hardly thought of anyone but myself.

That's all I can think of to say right now. Thank you all for being my friends, even when I am selfish.

Wow, it's been two months since my last entry here. I guess time really can pass quickly! Dad's back, Paul's gone to FL and I'm extremely busy studying for finals. Through it all, God is still holding the universe and the heavens in His hands and He hasn't changed.

My birthday was yesterday. I am now officially 18 years old... legally an adult. How weird!

More to life

Unfortunately, some people do not have the sense to realize that there is more to life than themselves. This is something that I have really been noticing lately.

  • It happens at work when people get impatient because they have to stand in line to pay even though they called in a pickup order. Just because you ordered over the phone doesn't mean you get to jump in line when you get to the store.
  • It happens at college when students start complaining because the instructor is taking too long with another student and doesn't have as much time to help them. Guess what! The instructor will get to you eventually.
  • It happens with highschoolers who think, "omigosh, did you hear what so-and-so said? I can't believe that Bobby told Susie that Mary said to Billy that Sandy has blah... blah... blah."  Trust me, once you get out of highschool, you're going to look back and realize how immature you were being.
  • It happens in church (just like Dr. Woodrow was saying this past Sunday) when we come before the throne of God and end up changing what He did into what we did. "I accepted Christ." No, you didn't. He mercifully accepted you. And you know what else? He didn't come to die because you messed up God's plan. His crucifixion was planned out before time and he died to please his Father.
  • It happens when people are so focused on themselves that they think other people actually have the time to sit around and think bad thoughts about them all day. "I'm sure she hates me!" Very few people wake up in the morning and decide first thing that their goal for that day is to make you miserable.

The main point is that everyone (including me) needs to learn to get over themselves. The world doesn't revolve around you. Highschoolers especially have a problem with this and see themselves as the be-all and end-all for some reason, like no one has anything better to do than sit around and think about them all day. The truth of the matter is that there are a LOT of more important things going on in this world to be spending your time on than yourself. Go out and see what you can do for others. Go out and see what you can do for God.
Mainly, remember that if you're going to call yourself a Christian, you need to be living the Christian life and that doesn't including self-worship. Stop making yourself into an idol and make God your focus. A God-centered life is the only life worth living.
